What is share dealing?
Share dealing is the process of buying shares in a company and obtaining profit by selling them for a higher prices.Â
Some companies pay dividends - when you get a piece of the company’s profit for every share you own, usually distributed twice a year. These are not guaranteed, as some companies might withhold dividends if they cannot afford it.

How does share dealing work?
A great way to start share dealing is to open a Trading Account - a flexible investing account with no limit.
Before you start share dealing you will need to add funds to your online account, then you will be able to buy and sell shares. With our Trading Account you get your first trade each month for free.
Share prices rise and fall in line with demand. If you buy a share and the value increases over time, you can sell at a profit. Likewise, if prices fall, you could lose money.
For this reason, share dealing is a popular way to grow your money and can offer higher long-term returns than leaving your money in a current or savings account.
