FAQs
General
If you are setting up your password for our platform please first try using your EQi account number as your ii username. You can find this on any letter EQi sent you about your move to ii. If this does not work, please call 0345 607 6200 for assistance.
If you have already set up your password for our platform, go to ‘log in’ then ‘trading account log in’ and follow the instructions at the ‘Forgotten username?’ link.
Many customers transferring from EQi will use their old EQi account number as their username to log in to their new ii account online. However, others will have been provided a new username by us. If this is the case, you can find it on the letter that we sent to you before your account transferred to ii.
If you can’t find it, you can request an SMS reminder by clicking the ‘Forgot your EQi username?’ link during the password set up process. Please note that you will need to have a mobile number registered on your account to receive the reminder. If you do not have a mobile number registered please call 0345 607 6200 for assistance.
Some customers may have previously logged in to their EQi account with a username beginning with AB, AT, PD, PI or PJ. You won’t be able to access your new ii account using this username. If we haven’t provided you with a new one already, please try using your old EQi account number to log in. You can find your old EQi account number on all statements, contract notes, dividend notifications, corporate action notification and other previous correspondence.
If we have provided you with a new ii username on a letter and it is either a five or six-digit number, please try entering either one or two extra ‘zero’s’ at the beginning, to create a seven-digit username. You should then be able to complete your online setup. If you do need any further help, please contact us on 0345 607 6200.
We might have done this if your address or name is registered differently for different accounts at EQi, you have an investment club or company account as well as a personal account, or we need you to take action that is specific to one or more of your accounts. The main example is providing a unique email address where the one EQi has on record for you would be shared with another ii username after the move. For security reasons this is not allowed on our platform and we need a unique email address for you to let you access your new service online.
You can read our Understanding your new service booklet. You can watch our platform video guides. You can also check on how our charges work, read our legal terms for different types of account and explore our website to learn about your investment options at ii and the many other resources available to help you take control of your financial future.
Joint trading accounts
This is for your security and protection. It means that we can trace instructions given on your account back to each of you as individuals and if we detect any unusual activity, if you need to complete a password reset, or you update your information, we can send an email to the relevant individual to confirm it was you. For more information about why we need a unique email address from you, please visit our security hub.
We mean an email address that is not being used by another ii username. You are unable to share an email address with your joint holder at ii as you both have your own ii username. If you had been sharing an email address at EQi and are now unable to log in to your ii account online, that may be why. Please call us on 0345 607 6200 with an email address that is unique to your ii username.
Joint trading accounts are charged for separately to individual accounts on our platform. This means, if you have both a joint trading account and an individual account of any kind, you will pay a monthly service plan fee for your joint trading account and a monthly service plan fee to cover your individual accounts. You will also receive a free trade credit of £7.99 a month in both cases.
Investment club accounts
We have sent an ii username for your club to the lead investor named on your EQi account. They can use this, along with the email address EQi has on record for them (provided it is unique to your club’s username at ii), to set up your club’s account online. As is the case at EQi, only your lead investor will have online access after your move. This is because their email address and mobile phone number will be linked to your club’s ii username for authentication purposes.
The most likely reason is that we have found it is not unique to your club’s new ii username. This may be because the lead investor has a personal account at ii which uses it too. Please call us on 0345 607 6200 with an email address that is unique to your club’s username.
Your named dealer at ii is the person who can view or trade on your investment club account; equivalent to the lead investor at EQi. To change your named dealer please write to us at:

As at EQi, only the lead investor can trade through your account at ii. The quickest and most cost-effective way for them to do this is through your account online. They can buy and sell over the phone if they prefer. We charge an additional fee (above your online trading cost) of £49 for each telephone trade to cover our administration costs. Any other named member of your club can contact us, but they will only be able to request account information, not give instructions.
You can make payments by debit card through your account online (we are unable to accept debit card payments over the phone), by bank transfer (our bank details are here) or by cheque. Any payments received must come from a bank account in the name of your investment club. If you are making payments by cheque, please include your 7-digit ii account number (which you can find once logged in to your account online) on the back.
You can request cash withdrawals from the club’s account online by going to the ‘Cash & Transfers’ menu, followed by ‘Withdraw/Transfer Cash’. Cash withdrawals must also be made to a bank account in the name of your investment club. We are unable to withdraw cash to bank accounts in the name of individual club members.
Company accounts
We have sent an ii username for your company to the main contact named on your EQi account. They can use this, along with the email address EQi has on record for them (provided it is unique to your company’s username at ii), to set up your company’s account online. Only this main contact will have online access after your move. This is because their email address and mobile phone number will be linked to your company’s ii username for authentication purposes.
The most likely reason is that we have found it is not unique to your company’s new ii username. This may be because the main contact has a personal account at ii that uses it too. Please call us on 0345 607 6200 with an email address that is unique to your company’s username.
Your company will pay a monthly service plan fee for its trading account at ii. This is £9.99 for the Investor plan on which it will start. There are some additional costs for us in administering company and trust accounts. We charge £29.99 each month to cover these in addition to your monthly service plan fee. Your non-personal accounts charge is collected at the same time as your service plan fee.
If you have a SIPP account at EQi
You will move to a pension trading account at ii. Your chosen SIPP provider will remain the same and your pension trading account at ii will be held inside your current SIPP wrapper.
They work in a similar way to any trading account at ii, but as they are held inside your SIPP you will:
- Continue to pay your third-party SIPP provider’s own fees for the administration and trustee services they provide you with.
- You can’t usually withdraw your money or investments until you are at least 55.
- You will not be able to add a stocks and shares ISA or a junior ISA under the same monthly service plan fee as your pension trading account.
- If you already have other accounts at (or moving to) ii you will pay a separate monthly service plan fee for your pension trading account and receive a separate monthly trade credit of £7.99.
- Any contributions, withdrawals or transfers you make into or out of your pension trading account have to be organised through your pension scheme’s trustees.
If you work with a financial adviser for your SIPP at EQi, we are not able to give them any access to your pension trading account at ii, either online, by telephone or by post.
